So, as I said in my journal, I have become addicted to the webcomic Homestuck. In my latest journal, I said I might be making a fanart of Homestuck, but as my ideas usually die at the sketching stage or early lineart (and I've never really been able to complete a fanart pic before), I wasn't sure if I would complete it or not. Well, it turns out I did complete it. And wow did I have a lot of fun with it.
Basically, it's the four main characters in their God Tier outfits and all that, just...posing I guess. I might do an actual scene from the comic later, but this was as much an attempt at practicing drawing humans as it is a finished art. While there are many minor issues, I'm rather satisfied with it. It's one of the first actually decent human pics I've drawn, and that's a step forward for sure. *writes down a mental note to improve backgrounds next...*
Unfortunately, I didn't keep any record of how long I spent on this, so let me sum it up as this: A REALLY. REALLY. really. long time. I finished the lines in one or two days I think, the flat colors the next day, and then the shading sorta just worked itself out over time. I puzzled over the background for about two days (no joke), and finally decided a pose shot needs a generic, blank background with OK colors. So yeah. That's what you get. And frankly, after all the time I've put into this piece, I sort of just wanted to toss it out there and be done with it.
As usual, this was done in SAI and Photoshop CS3 with my trusty friend the Intuos4 pen tablet.
Comments and critiques would be much appreciated.
